Successful Potty and Behavior Training for any Dog

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

I am sure many of us these days are hectic as ever and barely have time for ourselves and more so the pets, or in this case, the dog(s) we have in our lives. Here are some great tips and products if needed for helping those dog lovers in our life and yourself if you have one or two running around the house or outside to make life happier, not just for you, but for your pet also.

Tips on Potty Training your Dog:

1.If your dog is house trained or stays in the house more than outside, have a specific place where you keep a box, bed or container which you do not plan on changing every week. Use the same container or bed by keeping the color and size constant so that the container is constant in the dog's mind. The dog knows this is where it will sleep and because dogs do not soil their bedding or their sleeping surroundings, they will know to wait until you let them outside. The dog learns from the start that you control potty time.

2.After meals, give your pet a pre-determined and constant number of minutes before you take them out after their meal. Whether it is 10, 20 or 45 minutes, make sure to keep this number constant before taking them out. Later on your can always train the dog to signal to you when it is ready. Food is a trigger not only to eat but also to go. When it comes to potty training success, allow your pet to get outside when the urge is approaching. What’s more is that you shouldn’t leave food out. Put it down for them at the designated time and allow them to eat for 15 to 30 minutes and remove the bowl. Soon it will learn and that again allows you to control potty time.

3.Pick a specific spot outside where your dog should go every time and take it to that area. This helps your puppy to learn and reinforce that when it needs to go, it should only take care of business when in this area. Also the smell of urine is yet another trigger for your dog to go.

4.Don’t reward them with food. Remember that rewards need to be emotional, and therefore it is more successful to give them a reward of a patting and rub down than it is for you to hand them a treat.

5.Reward success, but don’t punish accidents. Although you will be angry and you will want to punish your pet, your pet does not see this as a bad thing. He sees it as attention. He also can become aggressive as well as not like to be around you. Dogs do not relate their potty mistake to the punishment you give them. Instead, ignore them when they do something wrong. Don’t speak to them or interact with them. Others have said to raise your voice and look directly at your puppy when you are displeased with what it did. This means that you talk to your dog in a calm way 99 percent of the time, but when you are angry or disagee with what the dog has done, you can raise your voice.

Caring for any animal is an ongoing, tiresome and at times expensive task. But due to these 5 tips and the love you have for your animal, any training should be successful.

Below is a great new product to help your dog along the correct path:

Download iPhone and iPod Movies Games Sports and eBooks

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Looking for content to fill your new iPhone or iPod so you can “finger it” even more while on the subway or just hanging out with your friends? Well then try a paid download source of course and get away from the problems of file sharing and wondering if the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) is going to come knocking on your door. This even applies to you all college students who download music for you iPhone or movies or even god forbid, some eBooks to do some reading and learn a thing or two.

If you do continue with the torrent sites, please do remember that there will always be duped files out there masquerading as music or movies and before you know it, you might have a virus on spyware on your computer. It is going to cost more than the $40 or $50 dollars to clean up your computer for sure, from the lost time and even perhaps the lost of information if the damage was really bad. So to obtain your iPhone content, would you prefer a one time payment or those sleepiness nights knowing that you might be summoned to appear in court for music sharing?

So if any of this sounds great to you or you are simply looking for more information, well then check out the services below and pick one that you have satisfied with.

Tips on Going Green within the Home and hence Save some Money

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Why all this discussion about going green first of all you may be asking? Well simply put, more and more people these days are very concerned about doing what they can to lower their fuel bills, use energy more wisely and trying to reduce the amount of garbage that ends up in the landfill. The whole point of going green is to find some best practices, whether they are at home, at your place of business or simply in our everyday lives that will help us to achieve this goal. So here are a few random tips looking at cars and the home to get the reader started.

With respect to cars you can:

1. Keep the air filter clean:

o Just like humans, cars and vehicles need to breathe properly also. The dirtier the air filter the harder the vehicle will have to work thus burning more gas and hurting your wallet even more.

2. Car pooling with people who you like:

o Obviously if there is another passenger in your car, that is one less car off the road if he or she is accustomed to driving. Remember though to let your passengers know that they have to respect your vehicle, do not let them slam your car doors or let your doors slam against a wall, other cars or stationary objects. You might end up spending more money fixing the damages than what you might be trying to save by going green. Also remember that with more people in your car, you will have higher gas expenses but considerably less gas will be used compared to having your passenger drive their own car. Ask your car pooling buddies if they will pitch in for gas, since gas seems to be going up all over the world and probably will not return to levels which we are used to.

3. Hand wash your own car:

o Many of us love our cars and some but not all, wash our cars at home. It is true there are car washes at your local garage or gas station but there are still many countries where it is not the custom to go to a car wash. So for those who still wash their own car by hand, try using a bucket and water instead of the hose. In other words, fill the bucket with some water and get a sponge and wash the car yourself. You can use a scrub brush for the tires since that surface is tougher. You will be amazed at how far a bucket of water can go and you will not constantly have the water running when the hose is not in use.

In your home there are many possibilities but a few are as follows:

1. Recycle your glass and plastic bottles:

o Even if you are the one who does not go to the recycling center, there is nothing wrong with putting your bottles into separate bags and placing them by the trash. In many cities around the world, the less fortunate collect bottles and return them to the recycling center themselves to collect the few cents per dollar. Help do your parts by separating the bottles into their own bags, instead of having such people go through your garbage looking for bottles and causing a mess on the sidewalk or around your garbage collecting area.

2. Find creative ways to use items:

o Think of a way to reuse items before throwing them out. If you ship things frequently, maybe hold onto clean items such as egg boxes, cartons that are washed out or simply boxes that you may receive. These can be reused for shipping and packaging purposes.

3. Solar heating:

o Use a solar heating system for your water, if available in your country. In many developing countries such as certain islands in the Caribbean, they have been using solar heating for decades now. You basically have a tank of water on your roof, with solar panels connected to it and the heat from the sun heats the water which is stored in the tank. True that in countries which have the winter season or where it is not hot all year around, some sort of backup system will have to be used. But the point is, for those few months of spring, summer and fall where it is possible to have the warmth of the sun to heat your water; this is a viable and cheap alternative.

Obviously, there are many other areas which you can look at whether it be with your electronics, personal self with respect to walking instead of driving, you can look at generating your electricity at home with the use of home based wind wills and even with your pet’s food.

I hope this article has allowed people to realize that it is the simple things which can allow all of us to get started on going green within the home and our businesses and that we can help create or leave behind a better Earth for future generations.
